Counting Down…

October promises many things.

Let’s hope October keeps such promises.

The first Friday of October will be my last day of chemo. Thank the stars. I’ve had fewer side-effects than many. I’m lucky. This has been week ten of Taxel. The nurse told me that the 10th week is the most common week for neuropathy to set in. We shall see. No signs of neuropathy yet.

Soon after finishing chemo, I’ll get to go to the Austin City Limits Music Festival with a friend. We plan on seeing Depeche Mode, The Cure, and Lionel Ritchie. You heard me. I plan to dance all night long. Well, okay. At least as much as possible.

And my novel, The Blue Jar, will be released as an e-book by Plum Tree Books. Later, the novel will be available in print, but that dates hasn’t been set yet. Wow. My first novel out in the world. Terrifying and exciting. (Reviews welcomed too, by the way.)

Then it will be my birthday. I’ll turn 45. My mother died at 45, and so this number has always given me pause. This cancer business and a Marfan’s Syndrome diagnosis haven’t helped. But that’s okay. I still love a birthday, and I’m not my mother. My husband and friends are throwing a party for me. I plan to do more dancing.

Finally, Halloween arrives. I love Halloween. I’m planning my costume. I splurged on an accessory. Tomorrow a friend is giving me a parasol which I shall steampunkify. We’ll see how it turns out.

It’s a lovely day here. Happy Autumnal Equinox. May October bring you many joyful things.

  1. And after the first Friday in October, may you have many more joyful Octobers, many more parties and much more dancing. Preferably funded by the sales from this first and all the successive, successful books. xxx Huge Hugs xxx
