for lists!

Plenty of people make better lists than I do. Austin Kleon, for example. And I’m terrible at keeping track of what I read or watched. Often I forget if I’ve read something this year or last year or five years ago.
So for what it’s worth, here’s a list of things I loved from this year.
Andor. Be still my heart–the speeches were brilliant and a little too on point for the times.
And yes, I know some people don’t like Star Wars (plenty of fair criticism out there) and other folks have trouble with Disney (boycotting them is totally fair), but…it’s remarkable this series got made the way it did. (If you’re argument is that sci-fi is silly and has nothing to say because it isn’t real, well, *sigh*. Fine. More for me.)
Taskmaster. The husband and I have been watching this show for years now, and it still makes me laugh. People being silly and creative is a win, especially in this Doom-Scrolling Era.
Great British Sewing Bee. Do I sew? Not really. I have a sewing machine and I want to sew, but I haven’t made the time for it. In any case, I love this show! Much to my surprise, I love most of these types of shows–The British Bake Off, The Great Pottery Throw Down, Britain’s Best Woodworker, and Interior Design Masters, etc.
I know, I know, these aren’t for everyone. But I love that the contestants are sincere and creative. Another winning combination for me in these exhausting times.
That’s three things! That’s enough to qualify as a list! Next time, I’m writing my yearly inner debate on the word-for-the-year trend.
In the meantime, if you want to help support an artist/writer out, subscribe to my newsletter, Paper Octopus (totally free, y’all) or join us on Patreon (not free but has tiers and you get cool art). Or buy me a coffee for the holidays!
Thank you! And thanks for reading!
