So, how far did you go with your blog last night?

I came across this post at Wish Jar Journal, and her points are worth considering. Why blog and how far should it go?

What is gained from this? Then again, what is gained from writing a book and getting it published? (I mean in a nonpaycheck sort of way.) How is this kind of expression (exposure?) supposedly better or desirable than writing a book and keeping it in the cupboard?

Well, NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo are humming along (illness aside). More than 36k and I’ve posted every day on almost every blog since I signed up for this lunacy. So, where is the approval I’m searching for?

Same or different? There is no difference between writing a lot or writing a little; writing to publish or writing to perish. None of it is enough. None of it hits the spot. That being said, we do what we do because we are who we are. Posts like this and the Wish Jar Journal catch us in the act.

  2. One of the greatest reward (definitely not mercenary gain!) is to connect with people who share common interests: books, reading and writing. People like you. 🙂 I’ve wanted to establish a website but the idea of the blog, the tangible interest, the almost-real live, suits my purpose even more. I derive a lot of my reading ideas from bloggers now.
