GO FINISH THAT NOVEL–ARE YOU LISTENING? ARE YOU? (I thought so.)

I’ve still got two spots for my gift-it-forward offer. Play if you wish, but I am very happy with the three names I’ve got so far.

But this is not enough!

I have a friend who has been inspiration and support for me through all these NaNo novels and letters of rejection, and I’ve wanted to return the favor. She has several unfinished novels and I thought that if there is one thing I can do to make a difference in the new year, I can see her through to finishing at least one. Yes! A FINISHED book! Every writer should have one…

I decided to be the Badgering Writing Partner, and I’m going to send her emails of encouragement and suggestions at least twice a month for a year. Well, actually until Halloween 2008, the night before the next NaNo, or until she’s done–whichever comes first. But my friend is a generous and helpful soul and she gave me the idea that this doesn’t have to stop with her.

So, how about you? Have an unfinished novel tucked away that needs your love and attention? Of course you do. And if you like, I’ll send you notes along the way, something to say that you are not forgotten and that someone out here is waiting for you to get the job done. You can be a loner if you like (I have often been), but it really helps to have someone cheering for you, even if you’re alone on the track. Granted, cheerleaders have never been my favorite people, but I’ll rah-rah for a fellow writer anytime (but without the pom-poms or stupid skirts, thank you).

If you want to give this a try, post here, I’ll email you a few questions, and then–GO FINISH THAT NOVEL!

  1. This could be helpful, my orginal plan had been to write a 1000 words a day after Nano so I could keep up the good writing habits and so far am 2k behind. But the other important question is would you need the same badgering? I would hate for it to be a one sided thing.

    The writing starts again today….

  2. Well, I’ll put you on the list–and you don’t need to worry about me. I’ve got plenty of badgers in my head. Go write!

(and I’ll be sending the first badger out in about a week…)

Hi. This is Raykun from NaNo/AuNoWriMo. I have every intention of finishing my novel, but knowing me I’m going to get sidetracked and/or lazy, and I would dearly love to have the same motivation I felt in November. And if it takes having rabid badgers stuffed down my pants, so be it.

    So, badger me up, please.

Ray (who /has/ written about 1200 words since nano ended…not up to his NaNo pace, but still better than nothing)

I would love a little badgering myself 🙂 I signed up for NaNoFiMo and I already know I’m not going to make it. I want to finish, I do, but this season, as a mom, yea… I don’t think many novels gets finished in December, lol.

I was a first timer at NaNoWriMo this year and loved the emails I received from NaNoWriMo for inspiration. I’d love to be badgered! Please add me to the list! Thanks!

I…failed miserably at NaNo, but now that school’s not a psychotic disaster of death, it would be fabulous to get badgered into actually writing, because if somebody doesn’t badger me, I’ll procrastinate miserably.

    So. Badger me please! =D
