Story July

May was a writing disaster. I signed up for Story-a-Day May and almost immediately gave up.

Giving up gnawed at me until I thought about trying again. There’s no law that says stories must be written in May, after all. So, here is July and I have ideas. Finally.

Granted, I’m also rewriting a manuscript and trying to make new art, but I need some wins. So Story-a-Day-May-in-July it is.

I like a theme. I ignore the theme when need be, but when I’m stuck, the theme gives me focus. Otherwise, I just stare into the universe at all the possibilities and am frozen with indecision. But a theme is like having a star to focus on. Let’s look at this. And story ideas spark to life.

Are they good stories? Only time will tell, but some of them are bound to hold life.

What’s the theme? October! Of course. It’s always October in my heart.

I’m calling it The October Storybook. Perhaps there will be stories ready to share in time for Halloween.

In the meantime, I’m still serializing novels over on Patreon. I’ve closed my Etsy shop, and all the art I’m working on currently is either for Patrons or in-person art fairs. The effort to run Etsy has not been worth it.

What about you? What are you doing this July season?
