Ineffable

Like many, I’m longing for a break in the heat. I’ll continue with my re-listen of the BBC Sounds Witch next week. For the moment, I want to talk about Good Omens, season 2.

I’m going to have to watch it again, but I might, just maybe, like it more than season 1. Seems like I’m supposed to explain why. Well, to be clear, no one has asked me, so, strictly speaking, no one gives a damn.

Maybe it has to do with one needing to stick to the book and the other being an entirely new story? Maybe it has to do with what’s going on in my life right. There’s been a fair amount of emotional whiplash? Maybe it was the ending? Gosh, that ending! No spoilers, but…oh, my heart.

When I heard season 2 was being made, I was both excited and worried. You know how it is when you love a series or movie or book and a sequel comes out. Many of us love to return to beloved characters and favorite worlds. But we know this is fraught with danger. How easy it is for our hopes to be dashed. Sometimes I wish Hollywood and other story creators would resist the urge to bring characters back. Nothing is wrong with letting a story stand alone. Leave ’em wanting more! Forever!

But I am grateful for more Crowley and Aziraphale. I hope there’s a season 3.

What stories do you love that were followed by a kickass sequel?

What sequels were rubbish?

What sequels are you hoping for?
