Maybe I’m too tall to write a short story.

Writing a short story feels like going out without my makeup on and my hair done.

What writing comes more naturally to you? What puts your writing in the best light?

  1. I don’t know which puts my writing in the best light, but I love writing short stories, especially when they have the impact I want them to have. They’re a lot more fun.

  2. If I had to guess, I’d say writing short stories are more fun and novels are more satisfying. It’s kind of like building a perfect sundae or banana split vs. building a complete meal. Or like having a great one-night stand vs. having a great relationship (not that I have any experience with the former).

I bet if I could watch a stained-glass artisan at work on a dreamcatcher-type thing, and then on a full-size window, I’d see the same sort of different pleasures in the different kinds of work.

But I have no idea which form puts my writing in the best light. I wish I did!
