Writing a short story feels like going out without my makeup on and my hair done.
What writing comes more naturally to you? What puts your writing in the best light?

I don’t know which puts my writing in the best light, but I love writing short stories, especially when they have the impact I want them to have. They’re a lot more fun.
Maybe I’d feel that way if I knew they’d have any impact.
Love the title! Great play on words!
I guess that makes me too short to tell a tall tale. 😀
Depending on how short you are maybe any tale is tall! ha-ha
If I had to guess, I’d say writing short stories are more fun and novels are more satisfying. It’s kind of like building a perfect sundae or banana split vs. building a complete meal. Or like having a great one-night stand vs. having a great relationship (not that I have any experience with the former).
I bet if I could watch a stained-glass artisan at work on a dreamcatcher-type thing, and then on a full-size window, I’d see the same sort of different pleasures in the different kinds of work.
But I have no idea which form puts my writing in the best light. I wish I did!
I’ve no idea either. Getting anything done well would be satisfying, but my lack of judgment drives me crazy.
My writing group says I’ve found my niche in the short story. But I want to write novels, too.
Who says you can’t have more than one niche?
Hey! You’re right. Two niches. Cool!
