I've been writing every day. Here's a story rough draft that is a one side of a conversation in what could be alternate reality. No one has died. Why would you suggest such a thing? If they’d died, there’d be paperwork. Announcements. Isn’t it nice how many of us go away on vacation? It’s so …
Sometimes stories feel like monsters. They take on a life of their own and that life is very big. Some of my Story-a-Day efforts feel more like apparitions, insubstantial, slipping away when I try to get hold of them. Months from now when I look at these stories again, some will still be thrashing about …
I have written every day this month so far. We are only six days in so I'll not get too excited. I can't post anything I wrote today because it would be a spoiler for another manuscript in progress. And I don't want to post all of what I wrote yesterday because I might do …
Story-a-Day May continues. I'm still writing backstory scenes. There is a connection between my published novel and the story I'm writing now. It isn't a clear sequel, but actions taken in by characters in the novel do help bring about the situation in the work-in-progress. I'm reading a book about the artist Joseph Cornell. It …
It's the first of May, Beltane, May Day, the beginning of Story-a-Day. In the past I have posted most of my story efforts. I know the pros and cons of posting them. Honestly, the cons outweigh the pros, except that I like to post them. This time I doing another round of backstory. Well, I …
Will it rain? Next weekend, the Violet Crown Festival pitches its many tents, and the forecast doesn't bode well. Yesterday, the forecast predicted 40% chance of thunder storms. Today, the forecast is at 50%. Even a light drizzle would ruin my art. Paper dislikes humidity last I checked. Of course, I won't be the only …
Oh April! Here you are again. A while ago, I think I mentioned that I closed my Etsy shop and took my work down from RedBubble. After looking at alternatives, I've decided to pursue not a single one. Who knows what the future holds, but at this point in my life, selling online is too …
I miss staying up until the wee hours writing or making art. (If you have a fondness for the night and listen to podcasts, then listen to Nocturne, by the way. It's a favorite of mine.) So now on this sunny, pleasant afternoon, my projects await. They call. They trip me up. They beg. Finish …
No one is going to give me an award for being sensible. Marie Kondo worked on my books and my clothes. She doesn't work on my art supplies and unfinished stories. It's getting out of control in here. A sensbile person would get this work space in order and keep it that way! A few …
Continue reading I keep using that word. Do you think it means what I think it means?
The universe is exhausting sometimes. I say the universe as if I know how I'd feel living on some other planet in the Milky Way. (I'd feel dead, most likely.) I can't even say the world because I can't claim to know what's going in every bit of it. (I'm overwhelmed just thinking about knowing …
